Women in particular, strictly AVOID and STAY AWAY. When negative reviews appear, he buries them with positive ones, and then has a social media "team" respond by hyping him up, all of which is against medical ethics he is supposed to abide by (6.1), which he has been informed about. Unethical behavior continues. To me, he seems to be obssessed with reviews, attention that would be better served to patients. After I posted mine, he posted positive reviews on every aspect I complained about to minimize my experience - more medical gaslighting which I experienced in person that continues online. Just as he did in person, he fails to respond to what he did to me. No explanation. No response to email or calls asking for responsibility/accountability. Now he is doing the same with another patient. I cannot believe he is teaching the next generation and feel very strongly that Ethics Councils should step in and investigate these highly unethical cover-ups at this stage. I deeply regret ever contacting Dr. Bhagvat and wish minus points were an option. If what happened to me happens to you, trust me, his positive reviews won't matter at all. Two months post laparoscopic gall bladder removal, I continued to suffer multiple symptoms and all the pain of Dr. Bhagvat's surgical errors (weakness, shortness of breath, acute pain that comes and goes, stool struggle, muscle spasms; I was wearing a rib belt), surgical errors that he failed to inform me about. Transparent disclosure of these injuries was vital for my medical management, but not provided. I found out each error when acute pain set in, causing immense physical and emotional trauma plus financial losses. Medical imaging taken prior to surgery shows there were no issues, and medical imaging taken after surgery show that there are. It's black and white with regard to the clear evidence!!! Also he panicked post operation and told the person waiting with me that he was "worried" about the extra incision he made, which he didn't even tell me about the next day or bring up until I did. That was the first RED FLAG of many. Nothing in my discharge papers reveals why this PAINFUL extra incision was made. No proper explanation was given. At follow-up, instead of listening to and responding to my symptoms and concerns (stemming from his surgical errors), he engaged in medical gaslighting, minimized my concerns, avoided answering queries by replying with sarcastic jibes and displayed grossly unprofessional passive aggressive behavior. After that last follow up with him, he called me to convince me that I was fine, placed false evidence on email stating that I was "certainly improving" when what I reported to him was contrary to that and finally, in violation of doctor-patient confidentiality, without informing me and without my consent, called the person who was with me on the day of the operation, behind my back, convincing her to convince me that I was okay. He even told her not to let me know that he had called which is grossly unprofessional. He told her I was "looking for problems" and no further tests were needed, but acute pain led to the necessity for tests - his surgical errors and cover up were exposed. No busy surgeon has the time to call a patient, write an email to them and then call their friend, all on the same day, post follow up (consciousness of guilt). The issue has been escalated at higher levels. When I asked about the context of photography and video recording on the surgical consent form (FIRST surgery; I'd be unconscious on the table), he threatened "no surgery" to send my friend and family into panic, and shockingly, labelled me extremely uncooperative and stubborn because I requested an answer before blindly signing. Utter lack of emotional maturity and gender sensitivity. Grossly unprofessional behavior! He charged me an astronomically high 3.5L for the procedure, over twice the regular price. To me, he was focused on money, not care. He abandoned me when I began asking specific questions about the symptoms stemming from his surgical errors.
I (my age:24) consulted Dr. Shirish Bhagvat for circumcision surgery believing he was a reputed surgeon. The surgery was delayed, and post-surgery dressing was handled by an inexperienced doctor, wrapped so poorly that I was unable to urinate , and had to point out the correct method myself ( as per first dressing ). The surgical result is unsatisfactory, with uneven cutting and poor stitching, leaving the appearance (of my Penis) unappealing. I was unaware that such procedures are usually done by urologists(surgeons)or plastic surgeons. Despite being a laparoscopic surgeon, Dr.Bhagvat never clarified to me. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps prevent similar experiences for others.
Dr Bhagvat is an incredibly great doctor to approach, who explains everything in detail and has the patience to answer as many questions as the patient has. He takes calls and responds to messages without getting frustrated, even if he's already explained it many times before. His comforting bedside manner is highly reassuring and his surgical skills are amazing. He operated on a gallstone surgery on my father who had the quickest recovery and no complications post surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone considering surgery.
I am writing this review 8 months after my fundoplication surgery. I can confidently say that the surgery has been successful. From a surgical and technical standpoint, the procedure performed by Dr. Shirish Bhagwat was safe, well-executed, and supportive for long-term recovery. Currently, I am dealing with some stress-related factors, but these are not related to the surgery itself. As far as surgical expertise, planning, and care are concerned, Dr. Bhagwat has done an excellent job. During hospitalization my treatment journey, he treated me with great care, patience, and professionalism, which made a big difference during a challenging time. If I ever need further guidance or help, I will definitely connect with you! Thank you very much, Doctor, for your care and support.
