Parkinson's disease is a neuro de generative progressive disease. So we should take great care while being treated . We should take medicine at right time and right doses properly as prescribed by the doctor. Not only that, but also doing physical exercises is must for its treatment. If a individual follow exactly what he or she asked to do, Parkinson's disease can be well managed. Apart from this, One fact we should always keep in our mind that doctors are not God, though sometimes it appears that the doctors are the representative of God to us. So, changing doctors frequently particularly for Parkinson's disease can be fatal for the patients. It is true that Dr. Jacky Ganguly is a good specialist neurologist.He is also a very good person indeed. I have well experience being treated under his advice and getting well from this poor disease. I am proud to say that Dr. Ganguly is much Cooperative with his Patients. I am proud of him.
I didn't have a good experience with Jacky Ganguly who is touted as a Parkinson's specialist. He kept increasing the dose of Syndopa Plus over 3 consultations, so much so that I developed dyskinesia, an intolerable jerking movement of a body part. When I consulted him for the 4th time he didn't lessen the dose of Syndopa and prescribed Amantrel, again more than required. I returned to my regular neurologist who immediately lessened the doses of the medicines and I'm much better now. Moreover he prescribed a diagnostic test costing Rs 21000 and insisted that it be done. He's a good researcher with excellent publicity generating skills perhaps but he's definitely not a doctor.
My father has been a Parkinson’s disease patient for the past 10 years. About two years ago, his condition worsened significantly due to severe jerky movements. At this time With Dr. Jacky Ganguly’s treatment and continuous counseling, my father gradually regained the ability to stand and walk and was able to resume his daily activities. He also recommended DBS surgery, which my father underwent about two years ago, and it has worked like magic in controlling his movements.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Jacky Ganguly and highly recommend him to anyone suffering from Parkinson’s disease or any other movement disorder.

I had a mixed experience during my visit to Dr. Jacky Ganguly at the Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (INK) for my father's Parkinson's issues. I learned about Dr. Ganguly through a podcast where Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, a renowned neurologist and Head of Neurology at INK, interviewed Dr. Pramod Kumar Pal, who is the Head of the Department of Neurology (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. While researching Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, I discovered his association with INK, and further investigation led me to Dr. Ganguly, who is also an expert in movement disorders at INK. I watched some of Dr. Ganguly’s informative videos on LinkedIn and YouTube, which prompted me to book an appointment for my father, who suffered a stroke in September 2024 and later developed Parkinson's symptoms, as diagnosed by a renowned neurologist in Howrah, also an assistant professor at Bangur Institute.
On the positive side, Dr. Ganguly was polite and well-mannered during the consultation. He listened to our concerns initially and prescribed medications, including an increased dose of Syndopa Plus, which we hope will help manage my father's symptoms. I’m optimistic about the treatment and will closely monitor my father’s progress.
However, several aspects of the visit were concerning. Dr. Ganguly briefly reviewed the reports and quickly asked for MRI plates, which we didn’t have, as my father’s previous treatment was under health insurance (only reports were provided) and I showed him the reports. He prescribed a new MRI and insisted it be done at INK. When I mentioned the difficulty of bringing my father—who cannot walk properly and requires 2-3 people to assist him—from Belgachia, Howrah, and suggested getting the MRI closer to home, he still recommended INK. It would have been helpful if he had offered flexibility or specified technical requirements like 1.5 or 3 Tesla for quality, rather than limiting it to the same hospital.
Additionally, I showed him my father’s previous prescriptions, but he overlooked prescribing medications for my father’s diabetes and hypertension, despite his diabetic condition. This was concerning. Furthermore, Dr. Ganguly remarked that I should have come to him earlier, but I explained that I had already consulted a neurologist. As a layperson, it’s challenging to know that a Parkinson’s specialist is a distinct type of neurologist, and his comment felt unhelpful and awkward. The consultation also seemed rushed, which added to my discomfort.
While Dr. Ganguly’s demeanor was courteous and his expertise in movement disorders was evident from his online presence, more attention to patient convenience, thoroughness in reviewing medical history, and sensitivity to a layperson’s understanding would have improved the experience. I’d rate it 3 out of 5 stars, and I’m proceeding with the treatment in good faith, hoping for positive results for my father.
I ll update it after 2nd consultation after one month.
