Our experience with Dr. Amitabha Das has been extremely disappointing and upsetting. After doing an MRI and some other tests, he diagnosed my mother with bone TB and immediately started her on TB medication — without confirming the diagnosis through a spine biopsy. She was on TB medicine for 3.5 months, during which she developed blurred vision. When we informed Dr. Das, he adjusted the medication, but her vision did not improve. Eventually, we consulted another doctor who told us a spine biopsy was necessary before confirming TB. We went ahead with the biopsy, and the results showed that she did not have bone TB at all. Due to this incorrect treatment, my mother now has lasting side effects — her vision is still affected, and she has lost her appetite. When I approached Dr. Das about the misdiagnosis and the harm caused, he showed no responsibility or empathy. Instead, he arrogantly responded with, “Mistakes happen with humans.” This level of carelessness and lack of accountability from a medical professional is shocking. Starting such a strong treatment without proper confirmation has had serious consequences for my mother’s health. I strongly urge others to seek a second opinion before beginning any treatment under Dr. Amitabha Das.
