I had a very disappointing experience with Dr Shah’s Superspeciality Eye Hospital, mainly due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the reception staff. I called the hospital to inquire about cataract treatment. The receptionist told me that they only deal with retina cases and not cataract. I politely mentioned that their hospital card lists multiple surgeons, so I wanted clarification. Instead of explaining respectfully, she responded sarcastically and asked me to send a photo of the card, which was very unprofessional and disrespectful. As a common person, it is not expected that we know the difference between retina specialists and cataract surgeons — that is exactly why we call hospitals for guidance. What made the situation worse was that when I had called a week earlier, I was told to contact them on Monday after 11:30 AM regarding cataract treatment. If cataract treatment was not available, this should have been clearly communicated earlier instead of giving false assurance and then responding rudely later. Patients and their families are often already stressed about health issues. The least expected is polite and respectful communication. Unfortunately, the reception staff showed arrogance and lacked basic courtesy. I hope the hospital management takes this seriously and trains their staff to communicate professionally with patients.
